Celebration

“Meditation practice isn’t about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It’s about befriending who we are already.”
― Pema ChödrönThe Wisdom of No Escape: How to Love Yourself and Your World

bees do it

I’ve been in a downward spiral,
where doubt
exposed belief.
I’ve understood holiness,
the consciousness
of grief.

I’ve tried to evade sorrow
and armour my foolish heart.
I’ve hidden from
my loved ones,
when my life had fallen apart!

I’m beginning to translate
the beauty,
of my sacred being,
and appreciate the silence
in a moment of profound meaning.

I’m letting the ether
draw me
out of myself,
to celebrate creation,
living a life that’s
heartfelt!

I’m learning to love
my intricacies
and be my soul’s friend.
Allow emergence to take me,
so my anima
will transcend!

Kindness

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
― Mark Twain

I’ve been touched by great kindness,
compassion blew me home.
I’ve tasted the sweetest mercy
and known I’m not alone!

Under love’s canopy,
I was led back to the light.
Called out of darkness,
restoration to my sight!

I was lost in a dark forest,
overgrown with despair,
pitiful and broken,
I was lifted by your care!

Unworthy to be seen,
in my pit of shame.
Your tender touch awoke me
and fanned my fragile flame!

A treasured possession,
no judgement in your sight,
the loving care of kindness
was a balm to my plight!

Joy and Sorrow

blossom“Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”
― Kahlil GibranThe Prophet

Heaven’s tears

Prayers for Mogadishu…

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

crimson rivers

Heaven’s tears
touch the earth,
crimson rivers,
crying is heard.

Infused with cruelty,
fear spreads,
too much blood
is being shed!

In a world of misery,
our hope gets lost
disaster upon disaster
we count the cost!

Look to the heavens
from whence our help comes.
Love each other
until the pain succumbs!

Light needs shadows to contrast its form

Though shrouded in sadness,
hope is in sight.
In the midst
of oblivion,
we get caught in light!

The shadows may threaten
to darken your days.
Be still
your heart
and lift up your praise!

The path may take you,
to places
you fear,
enable the silence
of celestial spheres.

The miracle of beauty
brings colour to a rose
and living water,
ushers grace
where it flows!

Deep speaks to deep,
when transformed by light
and beneath the umbra,
each word
will rewrite!

Light needs shadows
to contrast its form,
without sorrow,
we cannot
transform!

Within a cocoon the worm
knows the long night,
till breathtaking beauty
bring forth
great delight!

Still Smiling

We’ve had a tough few days….
My son ended up in hospital with a broken foot.
It’s his birthday today, but at least he’s still smiling!

Life is brutal,
yet full of miracles,
it can be bleak,
though it’s always mystical!

Imbued with sadness,
yet overflowing with wonder,
intensely beautiful,
saturated in color!

I look in the depths
beyond myself,
within me exists
an inner strength!

At the end of
all my reason,
there’s still a hope
I’m only dreaming……
